In 2021, I earned my BSc in Biology at the University of Santiago de Compostela, where I carried out my final project on transmissible cancer in cockles at Mobile Genomes. It was during this time that my interest in genomics and evolution truly took root. After graduation, I moved to Barcelona to broaden my perspective and pursue a MSc in Oceanography and Marine Environment Management. Eager to gain hands-on field experience, I then spent three months in Costa Rica working as a research assistant on a sea turtle conservation project. Finally, having explored different paths, I decided to return to Santiago de Compostela to begin the PhD I am currently pursuing. My research aims to unravel the genetic landscape of plant tumours and to shed light on the mutational processes driving tumorigenesis, contributing to a deeper understanding of how genomes evolve and adapt.
